Hi! I’m Jacqueline. A 30something Canadian Mom to two amazing kids. Two amazing kids who also happen to be high needs. MiniMan was assessed as a high functioning autistic child at the age of 4. He also has severe hearing loss and has been wearing hearing aids since he was 5. LittleMiss was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) at 8 months old, and Cerebral Palsy at 2.
We moved from Ontario Canada, to NorthWest Arkansas in February of 2016. Moving to a new country is crazy without high needs kids, but even more so when you’re setting up high needs kids.
Motherhood has never been ‘normal’ for me. I spent 4 months on bedrest with MiniMan before joining the Preemie Mom club. LittleMiss had me in bed for 6 months before making me a Preemie Mom for a second time.
This version of motherhood isn’t what I had anticipated when we decided to add to our family. And although there are trials each and every day, I wouldn’t trade my motherhood. MiniMan and LittleMiss teach me something new every day. They demand a bit more grace from me every day, but that’s okay.
I’m not super mom, and I don’t want to be. I am happy being me, and journeying through this version of motherhood, with an extra helping of grace and maybe an extra glass of wine every once in a while.
